The 2022 Federal Health Care Marketplace is officially open for business as of November 1st and will run through January 15th 2022.
In addition, many states operate their own state based health insurance exchanges. Several of these individual states have an Open Enrollment Period that also begins on November 1st (alongside
healthcare.gov) but extends longer than the federal marketplace in some cases.
During the open enrollment period health insurance shoppers can enroll in Affordable Care Act (ACA) health plans offered by private health insurance companies (like Blue Cross Blue Shield® and other top carriers). Much of the
time, shoppers will be entitled to income based subsidies that will reduce their out-of-pocket costs for health insurance premiums. In years past as many as 85% of health insurance shoppers were eligible for these subsidies.
Plans change from year to year so it makes sense to compare quotes and see if you can lower your rates.
ACA health plans are not right for everybody as all individuals and families have unique healthcare needs. In addition to ACA health plans, there are MANY other affordable health plan types available 365 days a year such as short-term
